Lower right back pain is common to peoples of all age groups and it’s a myth that only old people suffers from it. Both men and women are susceptible to it however studies and research reveals that the incidence of such pain is more in females. It is also known as “Sacro-Iliac pain” and occurs due to extensive use and abuse of the joint near the back. Also, a right handed person are more prone to this pain as they tend to use the right side of the body more and opposite is the case of left handed people. The main cause of the lower right back pain is due to overstressing of muscle groups in that region. Also, the backache may be generated from Sciatica. Apart from these there are several other causes that can cause this type of backache to surface, common ones being the incorrect postures that lead to stressing of muscle or injury of nerves. Majority of people become victim of this problem due to tight or inflamed muscles that triggers the pain receptor to give this uncomfortable sensation. Also lumbar strain which is actually some minute tearing in the muscle fibre can cause the pain. Other non-specific reason for this type of pain includes kidney infection or other systemic infection that may radiate to those regions. Most of the pain subsides within weeks to months but some are chronic sufferers. Acute pains can be relieved by heating pads placed over the region. But it may be noted that using heating pads or hot water bags in case of pain rising from Sciatica can aggravate and worsen the condition more. Also backward stretching exercises can give quick relief but remember not to over stretch. It should be done in comfort level. Along with stretching exercises one must use ice bags therapy regularly for faster relief. But one must continue the exercise even after the pain vanishes for sometimes in order to prevent relapses. Apart from this – massaging with some oils or herbal pain relief lotions is also helpful. The lotions or creams have got some cooling effect.
