Back Pain In Pregnancy

When pregnant, women tend to have back pains. Back pain in pregnancy is very normal and studies have shown that up to 80 percent of women experience back pains during their pregnancy.

-The added weight on a pregnant woman may cause the back pains. This is because the change of gravity. A woman looks like she wants to fall from the front side

-The posture that the pregnant woman sits, or stands is also a determining factor.

-Pregnant women experience hormonal changes that loosen the ligaments to make birth easier.

-Some women experience stress when pregnant and that can result to back pains in a woman.

Here are some of the ways to manage back pain in pregnancy.

a) Light exercises are very helpful on pregnant women. You can make it a daily routine to help with back problems. Swimming is also a good way since it helps to stretch ones back. The exercises are also good since they prepare a woman for birth. However, before any form of exercise; pregnant women should consult with their doctors and know if it is safe for them to avoid later complications.

b) They should maintain a good posture when standing to neutralize the back pain. The best posture to stand is by standing straight and your chest should be held out. The shoulders should be kept backwards.

c) Do not overwork yourself. The best way to work while pregnant and avoid back pains is to have intervals of rest every time you feel exhausted. Extended periods of work without rest could result to serious back pains and could even lead to more complicated issues later.

d) The heat ice therapies are good ways to ease the back pains. Having a swollen back can be ease by placing a warm piece of cloth on the back and massaging .Ice cubes can also be used by placing them on the back of the patient for duration of five to fifteen minutes. Pain balms can also be helpful when rubbed on the back.

e) The best type of shoes to wear when pregnant is flat shoes. Wearing high heeled shoes when pregnant can really result to back aches. Also avoid lifting heavy items and ask for help if need arises.

f) Sleeping posture. Use a posture that is comfortable for you. The best posture for a pregnant woman to sleep and avoid hurting her back is by sleeping on her side, knees bent, and place a pillow between her legs. They are also supposed to support the stomach with a pillow. It is not comfortable for a pregnant woman to sleep with her back.

Back pain in pregnancy is not only on the lower back. It can also happen on the middle back especially during the later stages of the pregnancy. The best treatment for this is to have regular stretches or involving yourself in the prenatal yoga.
